The Approach

Training the whole family, not just the dog.

Most behavior problems aren't really dog problems — they're communication problems. When you understand how your dog learns, everything changes. Melissa works with you and your dog together, building the bond that makes lasting change possible.

Force-Free Methods

Science-backed positive reinforcement. No shock collars, no fear-based techniques. Just trust.

Your Home, Your Life

Training in your actual environment means the skills stick where your dog lives — not just in a classroom.

Real Results

Ongoing support beyond every session. If something isn't clicking, we figure it out together.

What We Work On

From first steps to lifelong confidence.

01

Puppy Foundations

House training, bite inhibition, crate training, socialization, and building confidence in your new companion. Start strong.

02

Obedience & Manners

Leash walking, recall, sit/down/stay, polite greetings, and impulse control. The everyday skills that make life with your dog a joy.

03

Rescue Dog Rehabilitation

Dogs with unknown histories, reactivity, fear, and trust issues. We meet them where they are and build from there.

04

Separation Anxiety

One of the hardest things for dogs and owners alike. A systematic, compassionate approach to building independence.

05

CGC Preparation

Canine Good Citizen certification prep — practical real-world skills and public manners validated by the AKC.

Behavior Modification

Aggression, fear, resource guarding, and other complex behaviors. Assessment, plan, and hands-on work with you.

H

She learned to speak dog because her dog needed her to.

Henry was reactive. A rescue with a history no one told her about — he lunged at men on walks, tensed at every stranger. Mel didn't know what she was doing. She just knew she loved him.

She started learning. Not just tricks, but the science — how dogs think, how they fear, how trust gets built. It took time. Patience. Consistency. And slowly, Henry started listening.

"I am forever thankful Henry picked me to be part of his journey." Now she uses that hard-won knowledge to help other owners and their dogs do the same thing. Not a trainer who read a textbook. A trainer who lived it.
